Happy Hump Day Fellow Breeders

How can you tell if your horse is a racer and how do you utilize the traits for breeding fun?

When the version 3.5 Horse update came out on July 6, 2012, exciting new racing traits were hidden in new starters. You have a chance at the racing traits by breeding any horse with a starter horse or by breeding together two starter horses. Racing traits ARE passable. So, you can get racing traits, also, by breeding horses that already have them. When the Racing traits pass they can pass as the same class, one class higher, one class lower or two class’s lower. (This is based on the shown racing trait, not hidden traits.)

The racing traits consist of a Speed Class and a Stamina Class. Speed is the sprinting speed of a horse. Speed is ranked using the following Class system:

S = 3x ARS (Highest Possible Class) 50 minutes of training time
A = 2.5x ARS 45 minutes of training time
B = 2x ARS 40 minutes of training time
C = 1.5x ARS 35 minutes of training time
D = ARS (Lowest Possible Class) 30 minutes of training time
*ARS stands for Avatar Run Speed

Stamina is the amount of time a horse can sprint with recharging. Stamina is ranked by using the following Class system:

S = 50 seconds of sprinting and 50 minutes of training time
A = 45 seconds of sprinting and 45 minutes of training time
B = 40 seconds of sprinting and 40 minutes of training time
C = 35 seconds of sprinting and 35 minutes of training time
D = 30 seconds of sprinting and 30 minutes of training time

You can, also, train a horse and change/increase its speed and stamina class by training them. Experience or XP, is gained through training. To move from one class to the next you must train from 0% to 100% in the current Class of that field. XP gains as follows:

Class D gains XP @ .5% per minute of training
Class C gains XP @ .4% per minute of training
Class B Gains XP @ .3% per minute of training
Class A Gains XP @ .1% per minute of training

To race or train your horses, you need the racing HUD. To get the HUD, simply click on the horse for the Menu. Then click the Help button and select HUD to have an Amaretto Horse HUD sent to your Objects folder. Next, add the HUD to your avatar. For racing or riding, you will pick up your horse into your inventory and add it to your avatar as well. Click the connect button on the HUD to connect your horse.

*It is important to note that once a horse with racing traits is retired (pass the age of 120 days), it not only will it be unable to breed, but you will, also, not be able to train or race a retired horse.

Amaretto has a racetrack available for you to race anytime! Check it out here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Amaretto%20Ranch%20Haven/148/37/2489
