Happy Hump Day Fellow Breeders!

How many of you know that the birth flower for June is the Rose? Well, it is, and, today is Red Rose Day! Observed each year on June 12, Red Rose Day honors the flower that is a symbol of love and romance.

Red roses have held a symbolic place in most cultures around the world since antiquity. In many parts of the world, it is seen as a way to express love, romance, beauty, and respect. The earliest evidence of rose cultivation dates back to about 5000 years ago in China. In ancient Greece and Rome, roses were a luxury item, available only to the rich and the royals, and a muse for painters and writers. Roses have been used for medicinal purposes and for religious ceremonies.

The rose is, also, the symbol of social democratic parties in many countries. In the 15th century, factions battling in England, over the throne, adopted the rose as their symbol. The white rose was the symbol for York and the red rose for Lancaster. The resulting war was called the War of the Roses, which was eventually won by the supporters of the red rose.

Red roses are some of the most popular flowers gifted during holidays like Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. In Spanish, French, and Portuguese, rose is the word for red.

Let’s take a look at some of our beautiful Amaretto roses:

In February of 2015, Amaretto released the Valentine Day 2015 Editions. These included “Roses are Red” for the horses, K9s, and chickens. The Red Rose eyes on all had the ability to pass, as did the Rose Heart saddle on the horse and the Red Rose collar on the K9.

Next, there is the horse birth flower eye – Rose Pearl. This eye was used in June 2017, when breed with any color Sorrel, to make the Birthflower coat – Rose Pearl Sorrel! The Rose Pearl Sorrel came with its own special eye, Pearl Rose. The coat on the Rose Pearl Sorrel did not pass, however, the Pearl Rose eye did. And, let’s not forget the brand NEW Rose Agate eye from the 6.01 update!

Our last Amaretto rose belongs to the Barnyard Birds. When the Bird update was released in October 2018, it included a brand NEW breedable – The Barnyard Ducks! From the new Chicken and Duck starter packs came a new set of non-starter Flower Eyes, which included the Rose eye! These eyes do pass.

To celebrate Red Rose day, start breeding your own rose traits! Here’s to hoping everything comes up Roses for you!

Until next time…HAPPY BREEDING! 🌹
